Carnival Time
Here is a picture of today's carnival celebrations at school. 'Karneval' is very important in Germany. It is a joyful time, before the austere period of Lent.
Don't the children look splendid? So many colourful costumes. So much natter and noise. So incredibly exciting!

Rheindahlen Dance Festival
On Thursday 9 Feb, eleven children took part in the first Rheindahlen Dance Festival.
The girls from years 4, 5 and 6 choreographed their own dances and created their own costumes, ready to perform to over a hundred children at the Station Briefing Facility on Javelin Barracks.
A special mention goes to Elli, Tui, Chelsea, Claire and Emily: their music CD failed to play properly on the day. They very bravely made up a dance to a new song in just under an hour!

2,700 miles, ‘On your bike’!
The Station is organising a sponsored cycle ride, to raise money for computer equipment at our school. The equipment will help our children to keep in touch with their mums and dads whilst they are away on deployments, throughout the years ahead.
It is hoped to purchase a digital camera, and possibly a flatbed scanner, so that children can broadcast still pictures and graphical examples of their news. One idea, to be explored further, is to develop a school web log. A ‘blog’ would allow us to broadcast high quality images in support of our children’s news.
A constraint of the otherwise excellent e-bluey system is its limitation to text now, and low resolution images in future. A ‘blog’ would supplement the e-blueys.
We ask everyone to sponsor the gymnasium-based cyclists generously. Sponsorship forms are available from the School Office now!
